December 30, 2008 -- Greetings from Pasadena, California On the Road to Equestfest
Hi Everyone,
First all I want to say thank you so much for all the letters and prayers for the horses and teams to travel to California. It meant so much.
The team left Texas on December 26 by a tour bus provided by RFDTV...WOW! The team was so excited, and it was never a dull moment all the way there. The bus had 12 bunk beds, a bathroom, kitchen -- the works. We were in a total daze when it arrived to pick us up. I drove the horses up there with the help of a super guy from Double Bar Ranch and we stopped in Tuscon, Arizona, to rest for about 4 hours before heading out on the road to LA. Our head driver Ross and his crew were amazing. They helped me keep the horses comfortable and calm throughout the whole trip. We did break down at about 15 miles from the LA Equestrian Center at around 4 am on the highway. So we haven't had much sleep.
We performed yesterday at the Equestfest and had a great time. If you saw the live show on RFDTV, you saw a glimpse of what happened. When I sang the National Anthem they had microphone problems, so the sound was off and I had to just keep going. The drill went well. The team was really at top performance, and the horses were running hard. It was twice the size of the arena that we are used to running in so we had to make some adjustments in our head so we could continue to run hard but not wear the horses out.
Trick riding went pretty well, too. Sadie made it around for her first trick, and Shotgun shied around the stagecoach and plants that were set in the arena. She came back around and approached it again and made a clean run. Ginger went in and set up for her first trick and went around the neck for a vault. She missed the horn and fell hard. I was real worried because she landed on her neck, but she "cowgirled up" and mounted back on and completed her trick riding run. I was proud of her. As you know in this business it's a risk...you take it and go.
I am loading the trailers back up and getting ready for all our meetings today, and we will send you an email to let you know where we are at.
Thanks for all your support and love and know we appreciate each of you.
Your cowgirls from Texas....

January 29, 2008 - Greetings from Pasadena, California Getting Ready for the Rose Bowl Parade
Hi Everyone,
It's Sunday, and we have had another full day. I started off with a Marshell's breakfast at the Tounament of Roses House at 8 a.m. to get last minute instructions and credentials to pick up for the big parade on New Year's Day. To better help us prepare for the big day, we drove the parade route to plan the logistics. It was fun to see all the grandstands being lined up and down the streets of Pasadena.
Everyone here has been so great and so nice to us. We met RFD-TV President Patrick Gottsch for a VIP tour of where all the floats were being prepared for the parade - Holy Cow! Every float has to be constructed of fresh and living greenery, flowers, herbs, and/or food. It was an incredible tour. Our bus driver, Mike Owens, has been the greatest. On Monday, Mr. Gottsch is going to take us to the Gene Autrey Museum and the tour of the Hollywood Stars' homes.
RFD-TV has been the backbone of why we are here, and we are so grateful to them.
Being a part of their team has been the greatest thing that has ever happened to us, and I go to bed every night just thanking God for allowing our paths to cross each other. Mr. Gottsch is so down to earth and is a true family man. We have also enjoyed getting to know his daughters, who work for RFD-TV, and hang out with them during this trip.
At Equestfest, we enjoyed the opportunity to be interviewed by Ms. Pam Minick. Ms. Minick is awesome. With her strong background and knowledge of the rodeo world, she understands the dangers of what we do. She is so professional, and I just love being with her. Needless to say we are in great hands.
Later on, we went back and fed the horses and then went trail riding giving the horses a little time to stretch out. On Monday morning. we start with a live Broadcast from one of the television news crews at 8:30 a.m., and they asked if they could film us doing the drill. So we will be ready to roll bright and early. By Monday night, we get picked up at 10:00 p.m. to transport us over to the parade and from there we have a wake up call at 4:00 a.m. to saddle and get ready for check in...til then. I hope you all have a great holiday and talk to you all tomorrow!
Love,
Trish Lynn and the All American Cowgirl Chicks
